It's not as padded as the CLS seats for the side bolsters so it's a weaker feeling during turns but it's there. But yes, you're right, massage is weak it's all about the side bolstering

I'm now on my second car with a wood/leather steering wheel.

The wood is VERY nice on hot days-- doesn't get all slick like leather does. It's also great if you don't have clean hands-- just keep them on the wood, and wipe off, no need to worry about leather cleaning from oily hands.

Plus... it just looks sexy!

I LOVE the wood steering wheel. It is costly and you can't get it heated, but it looks really nice. It feels nice, too. It does get hot in the sun, though. I think it makes the interior look a lot more elegant. Without it you might thing you're stepping into a Honda.

One of my colleagues at work talked me into: distronic, massaging seat, and the wood steering wheel. All onthe basis that, it was only another 1 or 2 percent, so why not?

And I owe her big. Don't regret a single extra. If you can afford it, just get the whole package.

2014 E350 Wagon
I ordered an E350 4Matic Wagon on 9/10 with estimated delivery on 11/25. This is what I got:

Indigo Blue
Porcelain/Black Leather
P01 Premium Package
115V Outlet
All Season tires
Lighting Package
Sport Package
KEYLESS-GO Package
Heated and Active ventilated front seats
Active multicontour driver seat
Heated steering wheel
Black roof liner
Black Ash wood trim
18" AMG wheels
Rear Seat Entertainment system
Parking Assist package with 360 degree camera
Driver Assistance Package
Total: $75,700

The only option I didn't get is the panorama roof. We have it on my wife's A4 Avant and we never use it. I was split between heated steering wheel vs. wood steering and went with the heated one. Can't wait to get it!

Seems like you added the wood steering wheel. What's another $590, right? Nice setup!

distronic (997)

E-Class over CLS any day. I really dislike the look of the CLS. My next car is the new s550 that is gorgeous.

S class would be my first choice but way out of my budget, E class is more practical(seats 3 in the rear, more head room, better gas mileage, cheaper) than the CLS.. but like I said im not crazy about the new face lift, I think the CLS looks much better.
Im truly stumped..
1) get the new E and not really be happy with it
2) get the CLS and spend aprox $300 more a month (wouldn't be very smart)
3) switch over to a different car manufacturer

Don't get the new E if you really aren't happy. 700+ per month or $60K++ i is a large chunk not to be thrilled over.

if the CLS won't really set you back I would stomach it and make it work. I just like mercedes so I won't be switching to another competitor.....although you might be able to get a good deal on a BMW.

I actually like the looks of the 5 series with M package better, but I wont make the switch.. Maybe the new E will grow on me.

Anyone know whether the center arm rest is leather when the optional leather is added to the build or does it remain mb-tex? If it is leather, then is the texture/feel noticeably different?

I don't think anything else other than the seating surfaces are leather. I could be wrong.

Yeah just the Nappa steering wheel and seats would be leather in a leather-option car. In an MB Tex car there is no leather at all aside from the Nappa steering wheel.

M-B USED to put real leather on the door armrests and inserts when you got a Leather-Package interior, but they cost cut that to the point of even putting Vinyl material all over the dash and door inserts/rests on the brand new S Class. Only way you can get real leather all around is by getting the highest Leather Package offered (there are 3 levels, and naturally the highest one costs major coin).

IMO spending this kind of coin for a car and not being totally enamored with it, i.e not having it be your end-all-be-all ultimate choice in your price-range in emotional as well as logical ways is a sucky way to go about things (you only live once). Picking a car based on it being a "routine" in a day and age where the competition is so stiff, to me is just short changing yourself. To each their own I guess.
