2014 e550 4matic
on my '14 e550 4matic...i noticed the 2nd to 3rd upshift is rough when its still cold...only the first time it goes 2nd to 3rd though...after that it shifts somewhat normal...but 3rd to 4th/ 4th to 5th is smooth....

then last week i was on S mode while driving around town and heres what happened

i was cruising going about 40-45mph on D5 and i pressed on the gas about almost half way and it downshifted to 3rd but it was so rough and i felt a thud b4 it went to 3rd...almost felt like boost cut...when it downshifted it bogged...almost kinda felt like and sounded like hitting a pothole which i know i didn't.....i don't know how else to explain it but it wasn't normal...

i called my dealer here in anchorage today and the guy told me that there is an update for the tranny....didnt sound like he was 100% sure....seemed like he was just saying that...but idk....

so my car is at 7400 miles and the service isn't till 10000 but he said i could bring it in now and get everything taken care of all at once

i want to bring it in now so i can get the "UPDATE" but wouldn't it be better if i bring it in just b4 10000 miles for the service A maintenance?

i mean if i get the service A done at 7k does that mean i need to go in for the next service at 17k....rather do the 10,20,30 etc..

what do you guys think?

thanks

You do not want to have the 10000 mile service done at 7000 miles. Just take it in for the tranny issue at this point.

If you do the 10000 service this early you will have to do the next one early too. Stupid from an SA to even suggest to do that in my opinion. If it was at 1000 miles short then yes but 3000 miles...NO!

Has your car been in service more than a year?
Up in Canada the service intervals are 1 yr or what the FSS says based on your driving.
Can you do an ECU reset and see if it helps?

Good point. I was assuming the OP drives more than 10000 miles / year. Certainly if a year pass before the 10000 miles then the service is due no matter what the mileage is.

Hard to believe you went through 2 buybacks, back to back. Hopefully your E63 will be trouble free.

So why waste your time if you think it is just going to be an ECU reset? You can do it in 5 minutes in your driveway.
Having said that, the car is a 2014 and should by now have had its first service. What are you waiting for?
I cannot speak to MBUSA but if that service was not done on schedule i.e. at 12 months and each 12 months thereafter if mileage is low, and there is an issue, they can and no doubt will deny a warranty issue because you failed to service the vehicle properly.
Am I missing something on mileage, time in service and service history in your posts?
Read your service manual and follow it would be my advice and make sure it is completed by the tech each time you get it serviced.

why waste my time????? well when i talked to the SA on the phone...sounded like he was unsure

i ordered the car in november 2013 and arrived june 2014
so it hasnt been a year yet...lol doesnt mean u buy a 2014 model car and its already 2015 that its already been a year...

anyways

just got back from the dealership...took about 2 hours

indeed there was a a couple of updates to the softwares...he said it came out not too long ago

right off the bat...it drives/feels so much better and all the weird sh!& is gone...best way to describe it i guess... it's more refined...

now I'm looking forward on getting the RennTech Tune and muffler!

My point was you could do an ECU reset for yourself if that was all they were going to do. That was all I was suggesting.
I think I asked early on what your in service date was but I don't recall you ever saying. With that info my suggestions might have been different.
Good luck with the car.
