2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
$2380 isn't too bad to get an interior like that; in all honesty, I'd probably have gone with the lighting package over interior as I often drive at night, and just wouldn't appreciate the beautiful interior as much. But it's a great interior, no doubt

@PeterUbers: Yeah, I wanted the lighting package going in, but honestly the new LED Halogens provide good enough visibility that I could live with.
@SolidGranite: I agree! Though I'm not sure whether you can't get both....but they didn't have any Designo's with lighting package at the dealer.

Do love the 50mm 1.8 lens, although the bokeh is apparently not as good as it is w/ the much more expensive lenses? Haven't used my SLR + lenses in yrs b/c I'm hoping that they eventually make an affordable full frame DSLR....

Yep. Right off the lot
The nifty fifty is a great bang for the buck lens. You're right, the bokeh isn't that that great when compared to the 50 f/1.4 or the f/1.2L, but still nice for simple portraits. It's by no means a professional lens and can produce very sharp images.
I agree. I want to eventually go FF as well, but can't justify spending so much on just a body.

Agree that 50mm 1.8 is the best deal for a lens (I think the Nikon one is also very affordable). I have a 85mm 2.0 (I think those are the specs) which produces incredibly creamy bokeh.... But using that lens on an entry-level DSLR means I'd have to stand *so* far away from the subject! Argh.
Just got a Panasonic Lumix LX7 for travel, and it's wonderful. So unobtrusive....
To go back on-thread, did you go looking for Designo that was already on the lot or did you just happen to find it randomly while looking for a "regular" E? And did the dealer give you a good deal on it? (relative to a regular E?)

@alsyli:
Yeah! The 85mm is like a 135mm on a 1.6x crop sensor Need a lot of room to work with it on an entry level camera.
Nice, those lumix look very powerful for their size.
I didn't go in specifically looking for Designo, but knew I wanted a unique interior color choice. It just happened to be there when I went to the local Mercedes dealer.
It's funny, because I was actually set on getting the '14 Audi A6 (came from an A4), but couldn't find the configuration I wanted. Walked into Mercedes, worked out a good deal and the rest is history.

must admit they have a winner on their hands here. The car is sharpe, always gets a ton of looks (your interior will unless you tint windows which I advise).
But its really great so far after 5k miles. Coming from a BMW I couldn't be happier will never go back. I had some issues with my BMW (but I am guessing the same could be said benz)
Enjoy the car its a lot of fun...

FL...IMO 20% will look very slick clean and with the light that is shining in won't be too much of an issue. Also since you have the contrasting lighter wood it will work.
I am in New England and did 20% looks great and gets tons of looks due to the sleekness of it (I have a gray interior, it almost looks white though).
But it is all personal choice, 35% will still look nice and give you the privacy etc. You really can't go wrong either way, but I just feel the 20% is the best.
As for laws no one will ever bother you unless they have reason too (like hating on your car lol...good luck )
