Winter setup 4 x 245/40/18, 8" ET35?

Hello all, new on this forum

I will pick up my new S212 Wagon next week (E200, RWD, AMG Sports Package et c.), with the following wheel setup:
F: 8,5"x18 ET48, 245/40/18
R 9,0"x18 ET54, 265/35/18

However the first thing I need to do is to change to winter tires, and have already ordered 18x8" ET35 rims (Rondell 0049) for all corners.
After reading quite a few posts on this forum I felt quite comfortable with this offset for the rims considering they are only 8" wide.

Today, when asking the local tire dealer whether to choose 4 pcs of 245/40/18 or going for 235/40/18 (which would be closer to 265/35/18 rear size by diameter), he definitely recommended 245/40/18 but at the same time was everything but convinced that this offset would fit for the fronts at all

Comments or experiences on this, will they be on the limits or should there be no worries?

Not sure where you live or what the roads are like in the winter, but here in NE USA, I use 17" wheels for my snow tires.

LOTS of stories on here about popped tires and dented wheels with potholes and 18's

My my main concern is whether the ET35 combined with 245/40/18 in front will leave clearance enough for turns and suspension.

Worked out quite nicely, no rubbing what so ever.
Specs:
Rims 8x18" ET35 (Rondell 0049)
Tires 245/40R18 (Hakkapeliitta Hakka8, studded winter tires)

Pretty flush in the front, in this crappy picture it almost looks like the front would stick out, which they don't.
Also replaced the wing mirror housings to OEM gloss black ones today. Next small mod would be to wrap the white section between the end of the pano roof and the roof spoiler with black vinyl. The roof antenna seems to be a little problematic though, is it possible to replace only the "cover" part? Part number?

Hakka 8 - very nice! You must be in Europe. Nokian isn't shipping to North America until 2014-15.

As it turned out, the Rondell 0049's were just not right in my taste, so I hađ to go for something different.

I ended up with the BBS SR, which I had powdercoated black with a satin finish right out of the box. Otherwise same setup as the previous ones, 18x8 ET35, 245/40-18.

The black color seems to give the spokes a slimmer look than the SR's original Himalaya Grey, as intended. I'm very happy with both looks and a superb paint finish.

Will come back with some more decent pics as things proceed anđ the weather allows, until that a "sneak preview" taken with my phone.
