Have a new E Sport with 4 Matic and 18" All Seasons.
I live in Cleveland and we do receive our share of snow.
I have always used Snows on my rear wheel sedans.
But what experience do you guys have with 4 Matic and AS tires.

Yes, you really should put winter tires on your car. AWD will not help you stop or turn on snow and ice any more than RWD or FWD. All season rubber becomes hard when the temperature drops below +7C/45F and loses grip.
I would drop to 17" rims too for the winter.

I am in similar sitch. Just sold the 4WD truck with AS M+S rating tires - But never needed chains or winter tires on that rig, it plowed and tracked through 8+ inches in the mountains.
The tires on my '14 E350 4Matic are AS on the AMG 18" wheels but are also M+S rated (the ContiContactPro) and that's what I will be using all winter in the mountains for ski trips. So I have no experience yet with this setup, but I have high confidence
For Cleveland I think you shoud be fine without full winter tires if your tires are also M+S rated.

I live in eastern Ontario where the average total winter snowfall is 9 feet. I used to put four snow tires on my cars for the winter. Since buying 4Matics with all season tires I do not bother. My cars have performed extremely well in winter conditions.
My recommendation is try it out for the first winter without snow tires.

All season is a misnomer and should be called three-season, i.e., spring, summer and fall.
The difference will be apparent if you ever have to make an evasive maneuvers or sudden stops. 4Matic does nothing to help you stop shorter.

If you drive very carefully then you can get by but consider this statistic from the MTO in Quebec. Drivers on all season tires were significantly over represented in winter accidents compared with drivers on winter tires.

But I also think in winter conditions you should use full winter tires.

No, not in Quebec. The study mentions a gov't estimate of 90% of drivers on winter tires and therefore 10% on all-seasons (and I assume a miniscule few fools on summer tires!) yet cars with all-seasons were involved in 38% of the winter time accidents.
