spray guided combustion's effect on carbon buildup

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTrNS...utu.be&t=3m45s

As we know that DI engines are prone to carbon buildup on intake valves because of the lack of fuel cleansing effect on them.

When I reading about spray guided combustion I came across this video at 3:45 which shows in spray guided combustion: the fuel injected from the nozzle is washing the intake valve.

I wishfully hope the Mercedes direct injection engines' fuel spray patterns are the same as what the video shows. Any thoughts?

Very clever solution to an early problem with direct injection but I wonder if this would work with multivalve engines. About the only way to find out what Mercedes-Benz is doing would be for them to reveal what they've done to address the carbon build problem. It's possible they're trying to patent (or have patented) a solution, but who knows.

Anyone know for sure how Mercedes-Benz is dealing with the carbon buildup issue? Any details on injector placement/spray pattern that might reveal a clever solution?
