Buyers remorse

Bought my '14 e350 (my first mb) about 5 weeks ago. I love everything about it. However, I keep thinking I should've pursued the 550. I just need to know if I sold myself short going with the 350. I love the way the car looks and feels. I just always said I wanted a luxury sports sedan. And I have the looks of it, and don't get me wrong, the v6 is peppy, i just wonder if I'd regret getting the 3 if I drove the 5. My wife would kill me if I told her I was thinking if going back.

I ultimately want to get the E63. So maybe I'll keep this for several years and that'll be my next purchase. I have no need to purchase vehicles since I drive a company owned vehicle day to day so I don't put hardly any miles on my car anyway.

Has anyone felt or gone through what I'm experiencing?

If you're ultimately going to pick up an E63, then I would just stick with the 350, wait for the next generation E in a few years and get the E63.

I was daily driving an M5 for 6 years so when we decided to pick up the E for my wife, I just couldn't deal with the 350. It was a pain finding the right 550 since they don't make them anymore (2014 is the last year and no more allocations left that I could see for built to order 2014s) but we finally found one with a reasonable amount of the options we were looking for and I jumped on it. And the E63 was overkill for my wife

I texted my salesman at MB of Alexandria a few minutes ago and told him I may be stopping in tomorrow. My '14 only has 1200 miles on it now so maybe if they're having really good Black Friday deals I can work something out that only cost me a few thousand more then I paid for my 3. Probably wishful thinking lol. I need to feel the power at least. So definitely want to go test drive

it makes sense to me. i really don't know what the point of the e350 is when you can get the e250 (unless you want a wagon). this is even more confusing considering the pricing

the e550 is the performance luxury model.

Better hurry up - it is hard to get an E550 - our dealer has several on order but only one that they can still customize. We are going to see tomorrow and might end up ordering one.

Go drive without the tire slip control at 30 mph and floor the gas pedal. See if you spin the rear tires. I don't think so, at least my 2011 E350 could not do it. E550 that I now have does it easily. It would be dangerous car to drive on wet roads without the ESP.

HUGE DIFFERENCE IN POWER!

I don't think it would be worth the $$$ especially since you just bought your E350

Wish every remorse was like that lol
Well, I have been there too , still decided to stick to my ride .I wanted something like C117 CLA45 AMG but that would be a downgrade not in performance but in comfort, elegance and styling
Not to mention , no column shifter in real AMG cars and that's a deal breaker for me but that's a personal preference you know lol

I agree, if you want an E550 hurry up before it's too late but your car is performing above average too

I concur with ZeroMB, below. In a year or two the E-Class will most likely have an advanced turbo 4.0 engine with several improvements over the present 4.6 liter V8. With it, should come the brilliant new nine speed automatic transmission, plus whatever other improvements come with a new E-Class generation.

We have the 2014 E550, and it has a fine engine but engines never stop improving, and you would do well to wait before trading in your nearly new E350. Look at the bright side: the E350 may ride better than the E550, will hold its resale value well, and cost you less to buy.

I owned two W212's for a bit, I started off with E 550, because I knew I wanted a V8, then I got the bug and bought a E63.........then the bug was still kicking me in the **** so I traded E63 for CLS63, never looked back.......forgave myself for wasting some money and moved on.........
now I have a car I like better and am happy.........for the time being
now am planning on selling my TT and trading E towards my new S
you can always make more money right? not to sound like a douche, but it's true, we can make more money.....

F it! buy what will make you happy on this short trip through life

Wrong!

It is worth every penny!!!

What I would do is find a low mileage E550 of earlier years with the true 5.5 L engine that comes with all the options standard that I know 2010 - 2012 models come with. I'm not sure of 2013.

The ventilated seats could be the tool for the OP to soften the landing with his wife...

It won't be just a few thousand to upgrade to the E550. I would think somewhere in the neighborhood of 10K.

Is it worth it, doubtful? Next year the car will be an orphan with the new E400 replacing it. Furthermore, soon the V8 will be going the way of the dodo bird with the new regulations coming on fuel economy.

complete opposite! So happy I got the v6, traded in my bmw x5 50i.

the ride is so much smoother. I finally can relax while driving (this is my daily driver I have other cars)

NOW....if I just had one car, I might get the 550i, but I could care less about the power. Although I am guessing the 550 does have a solid/substantial feel to it. Sometimes I can tell the lack of power in the v6 but for my purposes its fine.

I really wish they would make it luxurious, I was willing to sink in more money for comfort features.

Good advice. Buy yourself a 2012 or 2013 550 and save a bundle.
