2010 E350 Luxury Sedan, Engine 272 (V6)
It consists of two DVD's and the car's electrical system must be on for the entire two hours or so that it is unloading old and then downloading new.
My original was 2009 version and I updated in 2013. NO changes in information re: roads, streets, restaurants, POI's, etc. for my area.
Fortunately I got a super, super deal on it installed by dealer. Otherwise would not have had it done.
Be cautious in that if you DIY, you are connecting to your car's electronics (computer) systems.

I've read others saying they have done the update themselves with 'used' discs. Haven't tried it myself as my expectations on changes for updates is very low (and not any higher after reading what El Cid just said).

My MB dealership gives me an update for $70 (Canadian) without having to buy the DVD. So I'm sure others can do it too.
From what I'm told, they release updates every 1.5 years and the next one is due in September.

my dealer sells the update for $250 and I think they let you keep the disc. Saw someone in Texas who was charging $70 - I assumed they kept using the same disc over and over. Still waiting on an iso image...
