Service B0

Just bought 2011 E350 and now about 40K miles. Asking me to have Service B0. Anyone have a list of what is done for Service B0. Called the stealer and they want $1200. Seems like they just do mainly basic inspections aside from the oil change, I think that is included. Anyone know of a good Indy in East Bay, Concord, Walnut Creek area in Northern California? I need to compare cost or could you give me an idea what it cost. The dealer/stealer in my area is vague about what they do. Now I don't trust them. Thanks ahead of time.

holy sh&t! 1200?????

I recently had mine done (indy shop) and it was half that which included:
oil and filter change(5w-40), transmission service, brake fluid flush and replacement of engine air filters, total cost was 693.58

find a good indy shop, hope there is one near you, the dealer sux!
only go there for warranty issues

good luck

Thanks for the responds. Took me a while to finish reading it. Kept scrolling down to check the Mamis on the lady under your car.

Yeah that 40k brake fluid is nasty... Just kidding I never flushed mine. Seemed like a ridiculous thing. I'll change the pads when it's time though. $700-1200 is insane. They're vague about what they do because all they really do that matters is an oil change. A $1200 oil change, MB owner's special.

Does your car have the 7G Tronic or 7G Tronic PLUS? If its the older 7G Tronic, you need a transmission service at 39k. Including torque converter. Not cheap.

If it's 7G PLUS, you have 40k more miles (so they claim).

Took my 2010 E 350 for a noise coming from the engine, a problem with the drivers side "auto window". When the dealer ran the VIN they discovered that the original owner of this vehicle had purchased prepaid maintenance (lucky me). The car has 42k on the clock and the 4 years expires in the spring (build date 3/10).

The "noise from the engine" turned out to be a bushing for the rear engine mount AND the transmission mount had collapsed (thank you warranty).

So why am I telling you all of this? It turns out that the "B" service was quoted to me at $400, it included "brake fluid" (I assume that it was flushed); Trans Fluid and filter; oil change (Mobil 1) and assorted air, oil and transmission filters. I would have only done the oil change ($120 overly expensive) if the prepaid maintenance had not been in effect. The $1,200 seems excessive, but I think that the MBUSA site outlines the "B" service, but of course not the pricing.

This dealer also provided me with an MB "loaner" even though they were not the original selling dealer.

Brake fluid is anhydrous, i.e. it will suck moisture out of the air. and what happens to that water? it turns into rust in the brake lines and calipers.
So over time it corrodes the internals and either the brake line ruptures or you wind up with a frozen caliper.
In severe cases it also can boil under heavy breaking conditions displacing the piston in the caliper so your foot just drops to the floor when you stab the brakes.
you're right, It's definitely worth saving a few bucks and not bothering to flush it.

So you saw that when you flushed the fluid at 40k? It had little bits of corroded internals in it? That's crazy.
