Hello,

Anybody was successful with updating the 2011-2013 comand system to the 2014 one? Got a 2014 E350 as loaner today and I prefer the red theme, also the back up cam has color line guidance.

The new system is the NTG4.5 and we have the NTG4. You need a whole new screen and headunit. You're looking at about 2-3k for the upgrade.

Well that's disappointing.. I was hoping a cd update disk would only be needed. It'd be nice to have the guidelines for the rear camera

I believe 2012~2013 is almost same as 2014, don't know why it wouldn't upgrade through software upgrade.

Only $2000-$3000 to upgrade the whole Comand system? I would have thought it is around $5000-$6000.

For that little money I might consider doing it.

I would disagree. The early W212 (2010 to mid-2011 manufacture date) had the NTG4. The W212 in late 2011 started to have the NTG4.5. So, if it's a 4.5 upgrade, I would hope it would be available for a 4.5 system.

Does anyone have information if this update is available for W212 with the 4.5 system?

Correct 2010-2011 have the NTG4 command system. The 2011-2013 models have the NTG4.5 system, and the June 2013+ models have the NTG4.7 command system.

Yup, you need a newer NTG 4.5 unit(~$2,500), the screen and Star diagnostics to link the system to your car.
