2010 E550, 273 Engine: 2012 S550, 278 Engine
If your tires were produced in 2000 or later, the last four (4) digits of the serial code identify the week and year of production. For example, a tire with a serial code ending in “2406” was produced in the 24th week of 2006. If your tires were produced prior to 2000, the last three (3) digits of the serial code identify the week and year of production. For example, a tire with a code ending in “329” was produced in the 32nd week of a year ending with a nine (9).
I take this means the tire was made during the week 11 2010.
I had them rear tires installed in April 2013 so the tire was about three years old at installation. This could be a valid reason for the failure then. How in the he'll can a tire company do this if the tire has a self life and they just keep selling them!!! I thought Firestone learned about the issue they had while back with the Ford SUVs.

For the record, the Firestone Ford SUV problem was a combination of slightly weak material and under inflation of the tires.
