E class vs S class comparison
My wife loves my new 2014 S class but she thinks its 'too big'. Could I configure an e class to be the 'same'?
What would I/she lose or for that matter gain?
Thanks to all in advance

Actually, its not that easy. There are plenty of features not called out in the build your own site.
For example, I don't think the e class has rear side airbags. It's that kind of detail I'm looking for and your facile answer didn't help.

But what is a big difference between S and E class is how they handle the road noise. E- class is like one cheap car compared to S- class in that category. Huge difference.

I was able to order rear air bags for my E off the dealer order guide. Look for the 298 Rear Side Airbags (SPC). Never depend ONLY on the MBUSA site, start there but involve a dealer for the unpublished goodies and other options.

It's big and S Classes are longer than present day's so called modern Cadillacs ,however you would not feel how big it is when making U turns , maneuvers this is what counts in tight corners .
Not to mention overall comfort level of W222 that dwarfs W212's
W212s , however, not a small car by any measurements but MB engineers did another excellent job by making it feel like a compact sedan car .You would be pampered when you are on the tightest parking lots lol

When I was shopping for my E, one dealer had a S that they were very motivated to sell. It seemed quite nice, but what kept going through my head was "how am I going to park this thing!"

If price doesn't matter, look at the S short wheelbase. You get all the luxury of the S in a e class size.
V8 will no longer be available in the E starting this fall and it's too late to order a 14 model. You may also want to consider the CLS, sportier than the E but it is not as luxurious as the S.

congrats on the W222 OP, what a car!
feel free to share some pictures
my 222 should arrive at the end of the month or early April,
as to your question: either car would suit your Wife I'm sure....and the
dealer can answer many more questions about adding extra's to a build....
good luck

Having had both, I can tell you that the ride of the S-Clas is vastly superior to the E. The S is also very nimble, and very easy to park. The E is more nimble still, but, not as refined in the area of noise control. The E feels tighter than the S, but the S simply coddles you.

I have had many generations of E class. W211 - W212 - W210
and I have had one W221 and W220 S class.
And each and every time The S class simply coddles you. I'd take the S over the E if comfort is top priority. That being said, each time I step out of my C63 into the E, it feels world's apart. And the E vs S is close enough, but theres still a lot more refinement in teh S.
