Update Speedometer

I'm sorry if this is a duplicate post, but I searched and found nothing concretely related to our cars. I have a 2011 with the old black and white speedo, no 3D. I had a loaner 2014 C this week and I loved the new speedometer. I heard that late 2011's had a similar speedo and COMAND but it wasn't full color. Can anyone vouch for this? Was it an entirely different cluster? Can we software update ours?

I also have an early 2011 with the black and white cluster. The later 2011's switched to the color display. There is no software update to go to color.
