Diesel noise

I purchased CPO 2011 e350 bluetec a few months ago and I noticed that diesel engine sounds at idle is louder than my 2011 gl350 bluetec... ie, at idle, i can hardly notice the engine noise from inside of gl cabin but with e350, it is very easy to notice (i do get a lot of complains from my boss - my wife)

should I have dealer to look at it or is it just normal?

You bought a diesel, not an electric car. Mine sounds like a diesel, especially at idle.

That's what's great about ECO/Start/Stop. Whisper quiet when you are stopped at a traffic light.

The E is not quite as well sound insulated as the GL with regards to engine noise. I had an E350 Bluetec prior to my S350 bluetec and really noticed the difference in sound insulation between the two. One thing to check, the engine covers on the diesels tend to loosen over time due to the serious vibrations from the engine. Make sure the cover is not buzzing.

I know what I bought but i'm just saying e350 bluetec seems a bit different than gl350 although it is using the same engine. gl350 seems a bit quieter even from outside though.

That's what i suspected but still it is noticeablely louder even outside (just sounds like old diesel engines) dealers saying bluetec engines should have less noise than non-bluetec engines.

I will just take it in to check them out...
