One instance TPMS failure

I've had one instance of the message that TP monitoring is inactivated.

On a restart, the left front tire showed ------

Eventually, after a few miles, the tire showed the correct pressure.

QUESTION: does this incident suggest to the accumulated experience of the board members here that

1. I will see increasing incidents like this suggesting imminent failure of the LF sensor, or

2. This sometimes happens, and is one of those peculiar things that happens to E class cars on a few occasions, like strange beeps.

Thanks

TPMS sensors do have batteries.

Usually last 5-7 years, but perhaps you have one going out sooner.

Thanks.

Ah! Battery! I thought they generated their own power by some kind of motion driven generator. Shows what I know . . .

Anybody have experience re: the cost of replacing?

Is this a warranty item?

Amazon - $28 each. TPMS #SC-8214.

What most people don't know is that only THREE TPMS sensors made - cover 90% of all vehicles on the road.

My current Benz sensors (aftermarket wheels) came out of a 2013 Jeep.

I had one go ----- also and never regain conscientious about 2-3 years into ownership. It was replaced under warranty. It does require the tire being broken off the wheel bead to replace it. Not a big repair if you have to pay for it.

Haven't had a repeat of the message. Let's hope.

I've come to depend on the damn things --- no more kneeling in the driveway checking tire pressures!
