Built in radar detector

Has anyone had a built in radar dfetector installed in a 2014 E350? I am thinking of having a K40 RL360 installed and I am wondering if anyone out there has had one installed? If you have had it installed can you take a picture of how it looks on the inside. Thanks.

If you are going built-in, please consider Escort or Bel in addition to K40. My experience with K40 in a 2008 E550 forced me have it removed and replaced by Escort 9500ci. The K40 range was simply inadequate. As a test, I pulled a V1 from another car and connected it and drove by a known radar spot (a speed sign). The K40 was silent until perhaps 200 feet away; the V1 range was several times that. The K40 people were good enough to replace the front sensor under warranty but the second was little better. The Escorts I have had (along with sister Bel) have been excellent and can be combined with laser shifters. My experience may not be a "statistically valid sample" so this is opinion, for what it is worth. As for looks a good installer will help you find a place for the display and the control(s) that suits you. If you are in NY PM me and I will tell you of the guys I use, who are first class.

Here are two pics of the K40 in my 2010. I had the lights recessed under the dash in front of the command screen. Looks nice and not intrusive.

If I was going to do this again, and I'm sure I will since I had it moved from my BMW, I would have them sit down 1/16 of an inch below surface, just to give me a tiny bit better sight notification during daylight driving.

From everything I've been reading, everyone goes with the Escort 9500ci. All of my friends use that for their custom installs. I've got an older K40 on my R and I know that if I were to get a newer one, I'd go with the Escort.

The best installed radar detector is the Beltronics STiR+. It is the Escort 9500CI's cousin. The differences between them is the STiR+ has more settings that the user can adjusts to make it greatly out perform the 9500CI. The 9500ci is much more expensive because it also includes laser jammers. There are much better laser jammers than the ones the 9500ci comes with. The AntiLaser Priority is the best laser jammer and the Beltronics STiR+ can be integrated with it.
