Suspension/ride question for a newbee
I'm looking into getting a 2012-14 used E350 and I need some information related to suspension and ride comfort. I want the softest ride possible, so I was staying away from cars with the AMG SPORT-PACKAGE, seeing how I read
that package will have a sportier/stiffer suspension with 18" tires instead of the 17". But I have seen in a number of listings with the AMG SPORT-PACKAGE it also saying it has "Comfort Suspension".
So that is where I need some input. So this has the AMG SPORT PACKAGE, but
with the luxury "Comfort Suspension", meaning its the same as base or luxury trim model?
I know the ride will also be better with 17" versus 18".
So with that in mind, if I want the softest ride, should I still stay away from anything list with AMG SPORT-PACKAGE? Or is it OK if it also says "Comfort Suspension", but then I would have the 18" tires..

If you want a more comfortable ride and the lower chance of flats and blowouts, especially if you live in an area with crappy roads, wait to find what you want with the 17 inch rims. If you do live in an area with good roads not beaten up by winters, the luxury suspension with the 18 inch rims is definitely a compromise on softer ride but a nice look. The AMG rims are much nicer than the stock 17's and 18's do just look better on the e class. Strangely enough, I live in New Jersey and after having a double blowout back in February 2011 in my e550 heading into the Lincoln tunnel to NYC, I changed my rims to 17's. I'm more practical than vain! Thanks. Regards. Ned.

I don't think its possible to get the AMG Sport with comfort suspension so I would be sure to confirm that on the build sheet before buying, or at least take it for a spin and see what your butt thinks.
Its surprising but the wheel diameter does make a difference. If you can find a Lux E350 with 17's that will be better that one with 18's.
The 2012-14 E550 cannot not fit 17's due to the larger brakes. Good luck!

Not sure if this is on topic, but I have the luxury model w/17" and comfort suspension. I hit some thunderous New England pot holes with no damage to the rims and it has a fantastic ride.
My colleague has the same car as mine but with sport suspension /18" wheels and he's already had to exercise his rim insurance after hitting the same pit hole in our office lot.

So it's looks like I need to stick with a Luxury trim to get what I want.
Another offshot question, I felt that when driving the 2012 luxury it felt like it had a better ride in handle rough roads over a 2014 I drove. Would there be any change in the 2014 that MIGHT make it's ride a bit harsher?

I just got a 2013 E350, 4matic and the stcker shows sport suspension and comfort suspension
it also has the luxury grill not the sport grill. it has the 18 amg wheels. I think the factory
puts these out.

I am an old guy who likes comfort but I also like the sport look. I test drove both the sport and non sport. I could barely tell the difference. The non sport came with the run on flat tires. The sport came with the amg wheels and a spare. I prefered the spare. If you drive on crapy roards you will feel the bumps on either. I use the car mostly on highway so I cannot complain about the ride. I also looked at the Cadillac cts. Now that is a terrible ride that feels like you are riding in my 69 camaro.
