one year in - still really happy!!

about this time last year I was making the arrangements to go pickup my E350 and was trying to find someone to buy my C230. well a year has gone by and I cant really explain how much I love this car; it really is a dream come true for a guy like me. I took it in recently for a 40k mile / service B and my mechanic, who I really trust, was raving about how perfect it was and how there was nothing wrong with it.

I just love the design of this car. on the outside it just looks like the perfect blend of sport and elegance and on the inside everything is laid out perfectly for how you need it while driving. it feels so solid and the 4matic did great in the winter. my only complaint is small but it would be for a better navigation system. I had upgraded my C230 to a kenwood unit with garmin navigation and it was much better. but that is small issue, I don't use it much so its not a deal breaker by any means.

overall I still want a S class someday but am really happy with this car and it has been a great purchase. if anyone is on the fence deciding what car to buy I would strongly recommend a 4matic E class any day of the week!!

I feel the same way. I've had my e550 for 3.5 years now and still enjoy it. I live in New Jersey where the roads are generally terrible and the car has held up extremely well, still solid as could be with no rattles and no issues to speak of. That tells me that these cars are built to high engineering tolerances which is one of those things that can be hard to see when shopping for a new car but shows up over the long run. It makes me feel like I got good value for paying up to this level of vehicle. I like you have thought about owning an s class at some point but whenever I think it through I come to the conclusion that I just have no need for a car that big. The e class size of vehicle is really all I need, just the right size, perfect. And they keep getting better with every generation, with the 212 leaps and bounds better than its predecessors. Regards. Ned.

the size for me is nearly perfect but how tall are you though? I am 6'1''. when I am alone its fine bc I have the seat all the way back but when there are people in the backseat it is a bit cramped especially if they are taller too.

but I totally agree with you on the build quality. it truly is second to none. I think all the recent recalls with other brands proves that they are just building to the lowest possible price point whereas Mercedes builds to the highest quality level.

I am a bit over 6'1" but am perfectly comfortable being up a little closer if need be, doesn't bother me. The contouring of the back of the front seats allows for pretty good leg room in the back, more than one would think and better than much of the competition. I've been complimented by taller rear seat passengers about the roominess in the back. The quality and fit and finish of the e seems to be moving a bit more toward the s with each generation, which doesn't surprise me with such a competitive sector of the market and productivity gains and the cost of technology falling. Regards. Ned.

nice photo and car. glad to hear the love affair continues.

I've gotten nothing but compliments about the backseat. Although someone complained today that the rear seats didn't have ventilation like the front. I guess I need an S class next too.

I'm 6'-3" and never have a problem with back seat passengers. There is more than ample room to adjust the seat. Just took a 400 mile trip over the weekend and averaged 25-26 at 75+. I love the V8!
