DIY or take it to a shop?

I was wondering, do most of you guys do your own work on your car or do you take it to a shop? I have a 2010 E350 and I just got my Vogtland lowering springs and now I'm debating if I should put them on myself or get it done at a shop. I found a detailed DIY on here for how to install lowering springs but the pictures are no longer present in that thread so I would hate to mess up something.

If you had lowering springs installed on your car from a shop, how much did you pay for labour and was it a specialized Mercedes shop?

Thanks

I'm planning on doing that install myself, as I've done it before on my Audi. If you have a shop do it, you're looking close to $600 for labor which adds on the $300 or so you've already spent on the springs. Of course, if you're willing to pay the labor, its much easier to just wait around for the day and have it done easily with the lift and save yourself from any headache.

The 2010 sedan should be relatively easy for you to handle. I'd send a PM to the guy who did that write up here and see if he doesn't still have the pictures somewhere.

If you get the springs on sometime soon, mind following up with how long it took you to get them on?

For what it's worth, it's pretty straightforward if you've done it before. Videos of similar setups are on YouTube. If I remember right, the front you'll have the whole strut and spring assembly to take out, use a spring compressor, etc. In the rear, you'll have just the spring to change.

I think on average it should take you 3 hours or so. 2-3 if you know what you are doing, and add time up to many hours if you haven't done it before. There are little things you figure out doing one side, that makes the other side easier and faster.

For me I think having the exhaust piping in the way made it pretty tough. The writeup mentions this.
