Maybe it is a matter of copy/paste and adding one wire at each lamp.

But how could I know for sure if nobody send the original US codings.

To revive this - is this possible to do with Xentry, or do you need DTS or Vediamo...? I have done lots of coding but not on Mercedes, it seems pretty difficult in comparison..

I've not known of anyone to attempt this on the W212, but I did see someone do this on a W213 - they were required to do so as they had exported a USDM model to a country that required amber signals. They said it was a nightmare and very expensive, and coding the car caused random other things not to function.

Also, not sure if this was clear but the US cars have nothing in those slots at all. The hardware is different in addition to the software.

With enough funds and patience, theoretically anything is possible but best of luck to you. Not as simple as coding.

thanks, I actually have EU post facelift replacement lights lined up on ebay. My car is a 2014 so it is missing the wire from the harness to the SAM. I have some experience in terminating wires so as soon as I can locate the rear SAM I am in business. The only thing left is to delete the NA code which does the multi function brake/signal light on the back.

in another forum someone posted a wiring diagram on this subject and it identifies a specific code that needs to be removed. Also above we have the EU coding, now I am wondering if I need to get Xentry, DTS-Monaco or Vediamo setup to do that and then if anyone has the steps or can advise which coding method I need to start with.

I agree however the trouble that I saw elsewhere was just changing the region to Europe from NA, this causes issues with the ABS and maybe some of the emissions systems.

another method may be to get a 2013 pre-facelift coding and wiring diagram and get the coding for tail lights - as this works in North America and it’s known that you can plug and play the EU spec lights. It seems like in 2013 the red rear signal was independent from the brake lights and not combined?

You're not likely to find instructions here.. I have never seen this done because it is so complicated.

The pre-facelift cars in north America had separate, amber LED turn signals. It was the facelift that combined the turn signal/brake lights - both being red.

PLUS, no one (MB Dealership) in the U.S. seems to know how to programme the Euro set-up if I were able to make the connections successful.

FYI: The U.S. spec does NOT have amber L.E.D. installed.

I would like to know if anyone has any connections as to how to make my Euro rear lamps work on the U.S. models???????

I find this most disturbing that MB would opt out of amber turn signals (the classy appearance, safety in my opinion), even if the U.S. government DOESN'T require them! This cost-cutting is right alongside the headlamp control whereby the dial-knob is lit (as well as the rear fog lamp button), but the options for parking lamp, headlamp, side lamps etc. ARE NOT LIT!

i think the dumbest thing that they did was to put halogen bright lights and and LED lights on my 2016. If they wanted to make the ILS an option ok but the non ILS setup is just stupid

Would you have preferred halogen low beams as well? The setup isn't the best, but trust.. it could be worse.

It's German.. that's just now how they operate. They are still charging extra for features like radar cruise that Corollas have had standard since 2017.

I just recently facelifted my w212 with the E63 AMG bodykit. Everything works well except the rear turn signals. As others have mentioned, the brake lights keep flashing on turn signal rather than the amber lights. The amber lights flash once and then the brake lights take over. Currently, there are 4 cables running from the SAM R to the lighting harness. The aftermarket light has 5 cables attached to the connector inside the light assembly. One thing to note is that my original W212 lights had amber lights for turn signals and the moment I install my old lights, they work fine. I have tried 3 new sets of post facelift lights and they all have the same problem. Would appreciate any help I could get on this. Do I need to run an extra wire to the light connector and also do coding changes?

4 Cables from SAM and a Ground wire.

Swap the cables yellow-pink (on pin 14) and green (on pin 9), as well as yellow-purple (on pin 24) and blue-orange (on pin 10) on 6HD SAM connector.
Of course, some codings is needed to:

Thanks a lot for this. So this will require re-configuring the existing 4 cables from the SAM to the connector in W212?

Do you intend to use EU lamps?

Yes. Aftermarket EU lamps with amber LED for turn signals. The lights came with the bodykit.

your car should already have the wire and coding then… pre 2014 the w212s separated turn and brake functions in North America and so the wiring was common in and outside NA. Are you in North America or elsewhere?

this should also mean the coding was the same. Were the aftermarket tails designed for facelifted cars or for pre 2014 cars? I fear that the manufacturer of the aftermarket tails put in a relay to split the facelift wiring inputs. So it is expecting a single input… you need to see the wiring and operation of the aftermarkets. People with pre 2014’s have been able to put in facelift tails and have been plug and play.

I am from Bangladesh. The tail lamps came with the E63 AMG body for the pre face lift model. My original W212 lights work perfectly, separate amber halogen bulbs for the turn signal and LED for the brake lights. The new lights have all LED (for both brake and turn signal). Could the problem be with the LED amber lights? The amber flashes once during the turn signal and then the brake lights start flashing. I am sharing a video link of the problem.

Tried that but didn't work. What do you think about increasing the resistance of the amber LED inside the light assembly?

If you use OEM taillamps, everything can be coded. No sense to add resistors, those become hot and a lot of trouble can occur.

I can code for you.
