Removing engine and battery covers
On a 2010 E350, how do you
1. Remove the engine cover?
2. Remove the battery cover?

probably easier to pull up videos on youtube that cover changing the battery or the air filter. no tools required. The engine cover is in two halves - front and back. The front simply lifts off after you pull up the tabs. For the back half you have to remove air intake hoses (three total on front side) and push back clip at rearmost point. Then the back half can be pulled up and off. It is held on by tabs also. Here is a video - it covers the latest E350 after it shows an older model.

The battery cover is even easier. The air intake box is held on by three clips - left, right and middle. Just remove the clips and lift it off. Battery is right underneath that. When you put the intake box back be sure to line up the slots on the bottom along the back side. It should rest in place (not fall or sag) before you hook the clips back on.

Got aroung to carefully viewing the video. Fairly simple, but think I will let dealership handle the air filter stuff since it is part of scheduled maintenance.
Will try the battery cover though. To me, this may help with getting it tested and replaced by Advance or Auto Zone or Sears later.
Do appreciate the information. Interesting that M-B would be so much more complicated than every other auto manufacturer for some things that should be simple. Cabin filter is another one.
