Diesel engines

Not sure which engines you get in the states but here I can chose with 4-matic:
250CDI 204hp
350 Bluetech 258hp
The price differs aprox 12.000USD after discount. Was pretty convinced about the 350 when I drove it, quiet and great power. Did a testdrive with the 250 (to bad not on the same day) and was positivly suprised. I had enough power and did not make the typical 4 cyl diesel noise in that amount that I thought.
I will save me a lot of money to go with the 250 and I can add even more options then. They come with 7G gearbox both as they are awd.

Is there any great reasons to buy the 350? A bit more power of course but otherwise?

You said it. It is how it is. You drive e250 and go anywhere E350 Blutec goes, you'll be surprised that you don't see noticeable difference! Add to that of fuel mileage of 45 HWY, you'll think twice. You can see why MBZ E350 BlueTech has moved out and let e250 come in. I have a month old e250 and I love it. I really do love fuel mileage I get and how nicely it handles roads.

2015 E250 BT 4M
Diesel choice in Europe

It all depends on your priorities.

Obviously in terms of cost, the E250BT is a much better buy in Europe.
Whereas for North America, it was introduced as a pretty well stripped 2014 model in comparison to the previous well-equipped 2013 E350BT that came to Canada.

For the Canadian market, only the 4matic version E250BT is offered. This means that the difference in highway fuel consumption between the E250BT4M and the E350BT 2 wheel drive is minor. But in terms of engine smoothness and passing power, the V6 is much superior.

If I were in Europe, I would certainly go for the E250BT and spend some of the savings on options.

It feels a bit strange that Mercedes dont inlcude anything extra except the engine between these. Even some minor extras would have motivated the extra price difference better.

If I would go for the 350 I might get it tuned which would give aprox 300hp, there are tuners who cover the warranty part. The 250cdi feels more unsafe with the high power output per cui and I would leve it stock. Then there would be a 100hp differens which is a lot.

The E220 and E250 is the same motor. If I tune it I could the the same performance out of the motor as E250, but the price difference is Huuge compared to the e220 here in norway.

Tested the E200 and it had lot of powers for " normal " use.
