Nav guidance without voice prompts

I can't figure out how I can have a nav route active and not get the voice guidance. I know I can hit the mute button but that also kills radio. I like to listen to audiobooks and don't need the nav prompts.

I looked in the menu under Announcements and saw "announce street names" but that doesn't cut the route guidance. Is there another setting that I'm missing?

This is a wild guess, 'cause I don't have the docs in front of me:

A couple months ago, during route guidance, I hit the Mute button during a guidance announcement ("Turn left in five hundred feeyeeet!"), and I was informed by the young lady that all announcements from then on would be muted.

I may have been given an option --- can't recall for sure.

Did you try selecting the Repeat button?

Just press mute on the steering wheel while the nav is speaking - this will mute the nav but leave the radio etc functioning.

This is correct. Hit mute during announcement. Another way is to press voice control and say 'mute guidance instructions' or 'guidance instructions off' - something like that.

Thank you, that worked. You have to hit the mute button during one of the announcements.

Yes, and you have to repeat this after every re-start of the car.
