about to trade into E wagon, looking for input on package add ons

I'm about to trade in my ML350 bluetec for an E wagon this week. This time around I'll get the extended warranty but curious what else others feel I should get:

  • 3 years prepaid maintenance
  • tire and rim package

On my ML, I only got the tire and rim protection and the protection against stains, tears, etc on the interior as I have 2 kids.

I did not like the interior protection package so I'll probably pass on it. Not sure I found the tire and rim package that worthwhile either but I only had 1 flat on the ML that could not be repaired.

I'm getting the sport package on the wagon but default wheels which are 17" on sport wagons vs 18" on the sport sedans. So I wanted to get thoughts on if people feel the tire/rim package is important on the E class.

Also I did get a quote from another dealer on the extended warranty (used a name recommended on this forum). But can you buy the prepaid maintenance from other dealers to use at your local dealer?

I'm looking forward to getting back into a wagon.

Thanks.

If you like more comfortable ride and don't care about the looks you should stick with 17" rims.

Otherwise upgrade to 18" for a bit more firm ride.

Unless you live in California or Florida (which have weird laws regarding warranties and maintenance packages) you can buy them where you please, nut you're probably going to get a "deal" on the prepaid maintenance. There is very little ($50?) margin in that. An online dealer might give you a bit off if bundled with a warranty but it won't be much.
