How to clean MB Tex?

My car has black MB Tex trim. I would like to know what do you guys use to clean the seats and trim? Will products intended for leather cause any harm to MB Tex? Thanks.

According to the manual you should use "a cloth moistened with a solution containing 1% detergent (e.g. dish washing liquid)"

Also, it says to NOT use a microfiber cloth.

^ Cool, but it's not leather.
Using a scrub brush as illustrated though is always good.

Modern MB Tex is NOT vinyl. It is a Thermoplastic Olefin which will wear better than leather, will age to a more leather like feel and will be damaged by conditioners intended for leather to replace their natural oils.
These additives can damage the surface coatings in some cases unless they are a crosslinked system. There are no oils in TPO to lose.
Follow the instructions in your manual and you should be fine.
Personally I use a half gallon of water with 2 tablespoons of Mr. Clean and a soft cloth to wipe and another to dry it. I have MB Tex in my E class wagon and the seats look brand new in a beige colour.

I use Lexol Vinylex on my MB Tex and it looks great. Use it on all plastic surfaces, inside and out for all my vehicles. It costs more and is sometimes hard to find, but definitely worth it. I would never use products made for leather.

I love to use some Meguiar's APC (Diluted 10:1) and a microfiber cloth. The key is to not scrub with the microfiber and instead just make multiple passes if needed. Does a great job all the time and then I "condition" with Meguiar's natural shine to keep it soft and mostly looking brand new without a oily feel.

You may find that Vinylex to be too shiny. You can try diluting it with water or use the highly recommended Aerospace 303 protectant.

Why use a microfiber cloth when the owner's manual (and real life experience from other users) warn against it?

I use a microfiber, but do not scrub. Have used a cotton (baby diaper fabric) cloth in past.
Vinylex is not shiny if you use one application and apply it lightly. A little goes a long way. You can use a second application for a little shine if you want it. Use it as it comes out of the bottle, no dilution.
Have not seen any warnings against using a microfiber cloth. What is wrong with using it?

Thanks again. I have used microfiber earlier but it tends to leave lint on the MB tex seats and therefore I switched to regular cloth.

Using a microfiber cloth on MB Tex will cause it to loose the matte finish. I find baby wipes do a very nice job on both MB Tex and leather.

Where do you buy the Vinylex from? I have searched all the available stores / supermarkets in my area. None of them seem to have it. Is it worth ordering it over the internet? The only one they all have is Mother's VLR. Has anyone used it? Thanks.

I actually got my last Vinylex from a car wash. They ordered it for me and cost a little more that way. Could try lexol.com and see if they sell it directly or can give you a source. A lot of places that stock Lexol products don't do Vinylex because it does not sell well. Better, but costs more than the cheaper, more famous brands.

Just did a full detail this weekend.
My preferences:

Aerospace 303 on the interior.

Exterior, initial wash with McGuiers Ultimate Wash, Griot's claybar with Optimum No-Rinse as lube, followed by Collinite 845.

Looks great! The 303 is a protectant, what did you clean the mbtex with prior to the 303? 303 is awesome stuff, I also use it to dress the tires, leaves a subtle non greasy sheen. Perfect..

Claying is so essentail to a perfect detail, best 45 mins you can spend on your car!!

oops sorry I used their 303 cleaner.

You were very kind to mention 45 minutes lol, I wound up taking a lot longer than that

But the difference using the claybar is amazing, well worth any time spent!
