Auto lights come on too late/dark, possible to adjust?
My question/gripe is that I think the lights when set on auto wait until it's too dark to come on. I realize that the car has very bright LED DRL's, however the taillights remain off.
And to dovetail with the above, the light sensor also controls when the buttons below the nav screen light up (radio and climate control) whether you turn the headlights on manually or let them come on in auto mode. They only light up when it's dark enough that the nav screen switches from day/white screen to night/black screen.
Is it possible to adjust how sensitive the light sensor on the dash is? Personally, I've never liked auto lights. In fact, on my 2010 F-150 I had the same gripe and ended up putting black electrical tape over the light sensor since I always turn them on as I see fit. It was the same problem with my gauges not being lit up on a overcast, rainy day even when my headlights were on that led me to cover the light sensor.
I'd like to avoid doing that on the E class since I like the DRL's during the day.
Any suggestions guys? Am I the only one who hates auto lights and thinks they come on too late?
Manually controlling the lights is as foreign of a concept to them as trying to listen to directions without relying on their GPS. Try this one out sometime, next time when letting someone know where to go, give them basic verbal directions without an address/zip code. I can almost guarantee that they will think you're talking about performing brain surgery.
Back on topic, I can't be the only one to complain about the auto lights can I? I'm going to go through the settings menu to see if it's adjustable later.

The only reason the sensitivity, and lack of manual control, bothers me is because of the self adjusting/adaptable HIDs. They go through a POST every time they turn on; the servos aim them down, the ballasts fires the bulbs to life, the servos test up and down, right and left. Since mine does have that more complex (and expensive) lighting system I'd like to reduce the number of start up cycles they go through. My reasoning is the fewer the cycles the longer the ballasts and servos will last.
My work around is to turn the parking lights on before I start the car. My pick up truck also has automatic headlights but they are simple, fixed halogens so replacement is cheap should one go out.
