E350 Bluetec

hi everyone..

with our Benz aging, we are looking to replace it with a newer one and a friend of mine owns a 2011 e350 bluetec and he let me drive it the other day.. wow..this thing has a tremendous amount of torque.. and it felt amazing in the interior.

I have then started looking into and found 2 e350 bluetec's.. one is an 2011 with around 27k miles and the other is an 2012 with 21k miles but the downside is.. the 2011 is asking $30k and the 2012 is asking $34k..

is there any noticeable difference between the 11's and 12's? both cars still have remaining factory warranty.

with the e350 bluetec's, has anyone notice any issues? any problems they are running with the motors? cause if we purchase it, this will be the first diesel in the family.. we had always owned petrol cars but not diesels.

thanks.

pre-owned E350 BT

Having owned both a 2007 E320 BT and now a 2013 E350BT, I highly recommend the latter, or a 2012 if your budget is limited. There are some minor differences between 2011 and 2012: the hockey stick DRLs gave way to better looking straight LEDs on the 2012. The steering wheel might also be different ; 2012 should have a 3 spoke wheel instead of a 4 spoke on the 2011. You might also want to determine if the car has the AMG 18" alloys that came with the Sport package; this package enhances the appearance of the car, IMO. Whichever one you decide to buy, I would strongly suggest that you purchase a CPO E350BT with extended warranty. You may pay a bit more than one offered by an independent seller, but you will get far more piece of mind and likely a better vehicle.

The V6 diesel is a very reliable, strong and efficient engine. It makes for effortless passing power on the highway ! On a recent 6500 km road trip through eight states, our car's FE varied between 6.3 L/100 and 7.0 L/100 km (approx. 33 -38 mpg US) cruising at relatively high speeds (120-130kph) and at higher elevations (5000 - 8000 ft.). This car will easily cruise for 1200 km or 720 miles on one tank ! It will far outpace your bladder !!

The seats, to quote Consumer Reports, are "supremely comfortable and supportive" for long distance touring. The driving position and sight lines are excellent. Having also driven various BMWs over the years, I have yet to find a car as comfortable, efficient and such a pleasure to drive on a road trip as the E350BT !

Good luck on your hunt !

I have a 2011 Bluetec, mine has 65,000 miles of zero trouble.

One other difference between the 2011 and the 2012 is the instrument cluster, the 2011's (especially the early ones) have the black and white speedometer and informations screen, the 2012 and later switched to a color display and I THINK that the COMAND has more memory.

Mine won't download the full contents of my contacts (OK yeah, I have 1400 contacts with phone numbers).
