worst day ever-massive wheel dent
Looking for some pity from my friends in this board.
Was driving out to dinner the other night (mind you I was 250 miles away from my house on unfamiliar roads) and came over a dip only to have my right wheel hit some pothole or something. My new 20" wheels with pencil thin 30 series rubber didn't have a chance....front wheel didn't crack but was so bent it couldn't hold air.
Managed to limp 250 miles back home, stopping every 25 miles to add air. Having the wheel fixed now although they have to heat the bent section and repainting it so I'm not sure how it'll look.
Gosh, only had these wheels on here for 2 months before this happened.
I'm totally shattered. My pristine ride now has a little pimple.

I feel ya man, sorry that Happened!
It's the price you guys pay for having 20's
This is exactly why I don't get why people feel 20's render very little increased risk to bending and cracking versus stock 18 inch rims. I would hate to be worried about this every second of every drive! God bless you for having more courage than me
Hope you get this fixed in a timely fashion and back to original spec!

Believe me....seriously felt like an idiot for going with those 20s (when it happened) but damn they look good.
My wheel guy said 19s would have dented as well.....he said maybe the stock 18s would have made it but at some point, as he put it, "you're just buying insurance" as even stock sizes dent.
Going to see how these pan out but if I keep getting dents, I'll be swapping out these wheels for sure. Living in southern cal, kinda was hoping for the best roads I guess.....

And think of it this way... It's not body damage ... Imagine how I felt when a texting 16 year old rammed into my perfect brand new 2014 e550 when I only had 2500 miles on it!! She got the rim too... Car never felt the same after even though they matched the paint perfectly and it drove the same... I was scarred... Emotionally.... But i digress, lol

18's, 19's or 20's it doesn't matter. It hurts us every time our car gets hurt. So sorry to read your post. I too had a rim issue ... Hit a pothole in my stock 18's and took out both on passenger side while driving ... Enthusiastically.

Sorry to hear that happen , being 20's the chances are higher in comparison with 17's ,18's that when you hit the porthole you could damage the wheels.
samking as always has a good point as well.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I have had that happen . When wheel came back it actually looked better than the other ones. I hope that is the same in your case. Good luck

Sorry to hear about your wheel. But if a bent wheel is your worst day ever you are very lucky indeed.
Here in NY, with all the potholes after every winter, wheel and tire insurance is a good idea. With 20" rims, I would consider it mandatory anywhere. With 20" wheels, the issue is not whether you will damage your rims, but when you will do it. Put another way, there are two kinds of drivers of 20" rims: those that have bent rims, and those that will bend rims.

Thanks for everyone's condolences. wheel shop called today and I guess when bending it back into shape a hairline crack appeared, despite attempts at welds, it still has a tiny leak. Net net I had to pop for a new wheel. I guess I'm glad these are just niche wheels and not some super costly brand.
I'll be watching these closely. Right now I feel like I've got a super dependable blutec Mercedes with uh, fragile wheels.
Happy Halloween and thanks again for your posts. Nice to know your not alone.
