Simple DIY SUB Install
Installed 10" DVC MB Quart sub in .75cuFT box covered in factory match carpeting
400W Kicker ZX-400I amplitifer in spare tire well.
Ran 4 Gauge Wire from Battery to back
Tapped into the "pre" amp signals going to the factory sub.
Overally sounds great, got it tuned nice xover set at around 80, it really fills out the system. Not a ground pounder, but that is not what I was going for. Something Simple, good sounding and clean.
Pics..
Fuse Holder and wiring under the hood Found factory Grommett

Sub Enclosure with trim panel made from 3/4 MDF, sealed enclosure stuffed with polyfill) Retained factory pass through and system comes out with two easy to get to bolts on custom bracket

Amp all hidden and tucked away, you would never know its there and it gets plenty of air down there.

with battery and air plenum back installed, you can even tell except for the fuse holder

Also not show is trunk lined with Dynamat as wel as rear deck and under rear seat pan. Havent done the doors yet, but waiting on my new Wood kit from MBZ then I will do that.
for example: if our cars had a 8 inch free air sub on the rear deck, can we just take it out and put in a better quality sub that is in the same rms range as the stock one... if the factory amp can produce only 100watts to the sub.. maybe i can find a really good quality 100 watt sub and just replace it....
has anyone done this or have any input?
