Strange noise located--ideas, fixes or normal?
2014 E350 4Matic, I noticed this very same noise on both demo cars so I am guessing it is a function of the car.
When it is quiet I hear what can only be described as a fluttering fan type noise, which I though was coming from the center rear console fan.
It is intermittent and sometimes louder or softer. The only constant is that it is gone when the car is sitting in ECO with the engine off.
I discovered that is is located in the left rear passenger footwell. I can feel a vibration in the floorboard while the noise is present.
Is this a fan? Does it have to do with the ECO charging? Is it part of the 4Matic?
Any ideas? At least I feel better now that I have found it.

Could it be the ventilated seats? And that fan?
These cars make all sorts of sounds

Thanks for the suggestions, no ventilated seats, not coming from under the fan duct, it is actually vibrating the floorboard in the left rear passenger footwell. Something under the car is my guess, but what is running?
I will have it looked at when I take it in, just curious more than anything since I now listen for the the sound.
