Transmission question

I have a 2010 E350 and I've been noticing that in the cold the transmission shifts hard until it's warmed up; this is even more pronounced when it's cold outside. My car has almost 74k miles and I don't have any other issues in the drive-train. I haven't had the tranny flushed yet, but will on the next service (about 8k more miles).

I have 26000 miles. This tranny HATES cold cold weather. It was 12 degrees out today. The tranny bucks like a horse in heat for the first few shifts. Been doing it to me for years, and never an issue. Fluid has been changed 3 times now. The just hates the cold. For a short period of time, which I can live with.

It only happens for a few minutes after I start the car during the cold, but when it warms up there's no issue. Thanks for the reply and for the comfort of knowing I'm not the only one with this issue and it's not a show stopper for the car.

The first tranny flush should have been done at 40 k miles. Have you really driven it almost twice the mileage without a flush? if so I would go do it right now and not wait for the other 8 k miles.

I believe this service is scheduled for every 40 k miles and of any services this is the one I would certainly do if planning to keep the car past warranty, which I am planning to do with my 2010 E550.

I also have some cold "jerking" with the gear shifts but it goes away after just a couple of miles drive. I'm not in an environment of freezing temperatures. I notice this at low 40s. I can imagine this being a lot worse with real winter temperature.

It's actually every four years or 40,000 miles, whichever comes first. I've got 20,000 on my 2010 and SA at MB said OK to wait until the six year service for trans flush because of the low mileage. BUT, I specifically asked him about it rather than just not doing it. One advantage of developing a good relationship with a dealership.

Asking is good but was it documented, in case there is a problem before that time?
