I experienced a huge vibration at traffic light

I stop at traffic light this morning when I drove my E350 bluetec. I felt a huge vibration that looks like someone hit me at back, but the car behind me is having a decent distance. nothing seems wrong inside and out.

What could be the problem?

THE C350
Was it cold and maybe the car shifted strangely due to a strange stop or something? How many miles are on the car?

There's 39000miles, dealer just did service several months ago. It's running very smooth and strong.
I noticed the idle rpm is merely over 1000, is it because of the idle speed too low?

Your initial post is confusing

You were COMING TO A STOP?

And as you came to a stop you felt a "thud"?

This seems like a rough downshift... Not entirely and uncommon thing for the 7g tronic

The car had fully stopped for over 10 seconds when this happened.
That's why I thought that low idle speed may be the reason.
