ESP Inoperative and power loss - On 2012 E350 test drive

So I'm looking at getting a 2012 E350 4matic and test drove several today and narrowed it to 2. But the one the one I tend to prefer threw a light on the test drive.
It was the icon for the ESP (picture of car with tire tracks behind it) saying "Inoperative. See Operators Manual" It also had a warning that said cruise control is inoperative at this time. Right after these appeared I hit the accelerator and it didn't respond for much longer than usual, almost like it was in limp mode.
This happened just after I had a brief hard acceleration, then braked and made a left turn. After shutting the car off and back on it was back to normal.
Searching through threads here, some things suggest that it could be steering angle sensor and some say speed sensors.

Any other experience anything like this and have ideas how serious a problem this might be? Should I skip this car and take the lesser equipped one? Both cars have about 12 months /6000 miles left in warranty

Sounds like the same issue I had with my car. Turns out it was a faulty accelerator pedal. Took less then 3 hours to replace all under warranty!
