Transmission Issues
Hello everyone, it's been a minute since I posted but I have a question. The day I was leaving to come back to Afghanistan my 2010 started throwing itself in park when I would slow the car down to come to a complete stop. I could hear a strange noise come from the front of the car. Long story short, I didn't get a chance to take in to my dealer but I called and they basically said they have never heard of such issues. I googled but didn't find anything, so I wanted to come here to ask for any keywords or options that way I can give the dealership a better idea. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Some of these cars go to P if you open the door at low speed and a bad door switch could make it do it intermittently.
If VIN is below 776831 electronic ignition switch (EIS) needs replacement see here https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ml#post6234529 - check your PM.
Sounds like the EIS issue assuming the car knows all doors are closed. usually a red message 'roll off door open' will display if it thinks a door is open- if that's the case then its most likely a door switch or door control module.

Thanks for the insight fellas, it's definitely the EIS and I will call the dealership and set something up as soon as possible, I'm battling a 10 hour time difference on my side of the world at the moment.
