17" wheels and tires question
I have 2010 E350 4Matic and AMG wheels on it with Continental tires 245/40/18. When I purchased this car the wheels on it were some aftermarket junk that I just couldn't watch on this car, so I replaced them with the set mentioned above.
The set that I got with the vehicle when I purchased it was 17x7.5 with winter Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 245/45/17 tires, so I decided to keep them around. I'm moving to Michigan and I could get use of these tires in that weather.
I'm thinking of buying replica wheels and I found one set that is 17x8. The offset is 35mm and factory offset is 48mm for my vehicle. Does this present a problem and can it be somehow resolved so I can get some use of these tires?Thank you everyone for your input.

Less offset means they will stick out further than the 48 mm stock wheel by 10 mm and you should be OK.
I run 18s in the summer and 17s in the winter and I prefer the ride on the 17s and don't give up much handling.

Absolutely agree with Alex. 17" wheels with higher aspect ratio tires will give a better ride and substantially reduce the bent wheel problems many are facing with larger rims and low aspect ratio tires.

Thank you both for your insight. This helps a lot because I would hate to waste 4 winter tires with 9/32 tread left on them. Any suggestion between 17x7.5 or 17x8. Is it a great difference between them?

Check out a wheel caclulator like at http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator# It will tell you how much of a difference there is between various wheels tire combos.
