50k miles coming up QUICK! - Strategy Suggestions??

So I am at 48.5k on my 2012 E350 BT. Bought her w/26k already on her from a private dealer and I have been shooting back and forth between the ATL and the Queen City a lot - hence the miles. I really enjoy the car on the highway and I usually keep cars for a long time and I doubt this one will be an exception.

So first a little more about the car and me.

1) This is my first MB - (I am a former BMW and current Porsche guy).
2) I've had the A&B service done at the dealer (wayyyy overpriced IMHO).
3) I've changed the oil in her myself the last 2 times (I have a topsider) and know how to reset service reminders.
4) I have a lift in my garage, but it is usually occupied by a "project" car.
5) I don't mind working on the MB, but prefer to wrench on the project car.

So here are my questions.

1) Is the extended warranty worth considering or should I rest easy in that I have yet to have a service issue and diesels are built for 250k miles?

2) What should I try to have the dealer work on/replace before I go over 50k miles? Any known items that fail right around 51k miles?

3) What else am I missing/forgetting?

Thanks in advance.

Get an extended warranty. There are many very expensive things that can go wrong besides the engine. Don't ask me how I know.

While I have a ELW myself, I only put on about 8k a year so I will have the car 6 years before I hit the expiration date of the ELW. If you drive a lot and will hit 100k in a couple of years, I would question how much use you will get out of an ELW in such a short time.

You've owned BMW's and Porsches, have a lift and you want to know if you need a warranty? I would just keep up with the maintenance yourself and bank the price of a warranty. If you don't need it, then you're ahead.

I would get the max extended warranty. And it must be purchased before the original factory warranty runs out.
