Headlight switch question

Can someone confirm this for me? I was driving last night and I noticed my headlight switch was only illuminated for the rear fog light switch icon and for the bulb/selection indicator icons on the main switch itself. The standing, parking, "auto" and headlight icons on the dial weren't. I can't remember if they had been on or not previously or if they're even supposed to.

Thank you. I haven't really driven the car at night often enough to recall. Seems to me as if it should illuminate, however.

You get some ambient light falling on the switch, but that is it. My switch is always in Auto unless I am on a long dark highway when I switch it to the headlamp position so I can use the automatic brights/low beam feature. I can understand why it isn't illuminated as it does not get much use.
