Could the W212 E63 really be slower than the W211?
Hi Folks,
I been looking at a couple of 2010 E63s and they seemed a bit off expectations.
In comparison to the W211 they seemed:
Louder
More snatchy and unsettled in the transmission
Missing the OMG top end pull - just smooth up there...
Are they just that much more refined that they could feel slower or have I just driven a couple of lemons.
Help!

Depends on what you drove. The W211 had the supercharged 5.5 E55 and went to the 6.3l E63. The W212 started with the 6.3l (M156) then went to twin turbo 5.5 (M157). The 6.3 is louder than the other two. The boosted engines have cheap tuning potential. 6.3l is a beast and obviously has potential (headers, tune, even supercharges are available) but cost quickly becomes an issue.
Transmission wise I'm not sure when they went from a torque converted 7g to the 7-speed MTC (clutch replaces torque converter).
