Silly A/C Question
Silly A/C Question
It seems there isn't a button/setting that will stop the A/C from coming out of the rear backseat vent, correct?
I know that Zone 2 handles the passenger and rear A/C, but is there a way to completely shut off Zone 2?
I rarely ever have anyone in the back seat and I feel that the A/C is getting wasted - lol.
I know I can manually close the rear vent. Will that, in turn, push more cold air forwards the front of the car?

Closing the rear vents will increase the pressure to the rest of the open vents. Happens to me every time my wife closes them on the passenger side.
However, cooling the rear does help with cooling the rear (via the vented seats). See what I tried to do there.

And about those ventilated seats, mine are useless! I thought it was just me, but it seems the ventilated seats are just a gimmick. The rear feels the same with them on or off, and I do not feel any air flow coming out of the seat!

I agree about the air flow. I hear the fans more than I feel them when I cut the engine. I don't understand why there are three level settings. However, I still turn them on pretty much all the time. I've driven without them on and it doesn't take long for me to feel warm. Keeping them on helps me stay cool. It's kind of like those mesh back chairs at work - I don't feel any air flow but my back doesn't get hot either like it does when sitting in the leather conference room chairs.
75-76 degrees for my wife and she adjusts all of the vanes to blow air away from her. I get in her car and she has the AC turned off completely. I must have married some kind of reptile. I don't think shutting off the two small air vents in the rear will help much in terms of in-cabin carbon footprint. These cars have great cooling systems and another reason why I buy MB. The ventilated seats are okay if you turn them on ahead of when you need them and a cool rear cabin is critical since that is their source of cool air supply.

And it's freaking 90+ out with high humidity here. I set my A/C to 68 these days. The other day I had it on 65.
I will "play" around with the ventilated seats since some of you do think it has "some" effect.
