What are my options for exnteded warranties? Don't qualify for ELW.
I have about 15,360 miles on my car right now and I still have factory warranty until 2017. So what secondary extended warranty options do I have? I guess I need to go with a third party company. I am not fully understanding the rules.
Here is the chat conversation I had with Mercedes USA:
----------------
Marion L. : My name is Marion L. it is my pleasure to assist you
Designergrey: I was told by a dealer that I cannot extend the warranty on my car. I was just chatting to find out what is wrong with the car.
Designergrey: that I can't extend the warranty.
Marion L.: I see. What is the year and model of your vehicle?
Designergrey: 2013 Mercedes E350
Marion L.: Did they tell you that the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty expired?
Designergrey: No.
Marion L.: Did you purchase the vehicle from an authorized Mercedes Benz dealership?
Designergrey: No
Designergrey: My factory warranty is good until Mar. 30, 2017 or 50,000 miles
Designergrey: I bought it used from a independent dealer in Texas
Marion L.: That is the reason. You see the NVLW would come with the vehicle when purchased at an authorized MB dealer. In order to purchase the ELW, Extended Limited Warranty, one would have to purchase the ELW while the NVLW was still in effect. The fact that you purchased it from an independent, would explain the reason why you would not be able to purchase an ELW from an authorized Mercedes Benz dealership
Marion L.: I'm sorry, but that is why you would not qualify for an ELW
Designergrey: Isn't the NVLW still in effect?
Designergrey: I'm confused.
Marion L.: You are not the original owner, if you purchased it from an independent
Marion L.: There are other warranties out there. You may choose to look into that.
Designergrey: ok thanks.
Marion L.: You're welcome.
Marion L.: Enjoy the rest of your day, sir -----------

I bought my car from Carmax a year ago and my local MB dealer called MB financial and verified I could still get it. And I was just out of the factory warranty by 400 miles.

I called Dan Boone at Mercedes Benz Austin, he put in my vin, it said eligible and I am one year into my ELW.
The only potential scenario I can remotely think of that might not allow you to buy an ELW, is if was a lemon or manufacturer buy back and the VIN was blocked by the manufacturer and that is just a theory.
Hopefully ELW policies haven't changed, or else I may have to rethink about upgrading to a 2014 next year, I like the piece of mind with a warranty on a Used Merc!
