OE Tuning E550 Tune Review

I recently picked up a 2012 E550 4Matic and wanted to get it tuned. After researching several vendors I went with OE Tuning and am very very happy. Here are my overall thoughts.

Vendor Tune Selection
After calling various vendors to discuss their tunes, pricing and the overall process I decided to go with OE Tuning. Jeremy and Ryan were great throughout the entire process. They answered all my questions, provided a detailed document on how to remove and install the ecu and remained in contact (via email and telephone) with me the entire time to let me know they received and shipped my ecu.

The Tuning Process:
ECU removal and install was very very simple. The entire tuning process took less than 3 full days. I shipped it via overnight to them in cali from nyc on monday morning and received it back wed by 10:30am.

Performance
I LOVE the tune. Throttle response is far greater and the added power is very very noticeable. The car pulls very hard throughtout the entire rpm range. Feels like an entirely new car. At 20mph in 75 degree weather I am able to get the traction control to engage on the 4matic! To gauge its new performance I had a chance to see how it compares to a modded E55 wagon. A close friend of mine (and member here) has a 2006 E55 Wagon with modded supercharger pulley (equivalent to 168 crank pulley). We had a chance to make several runs last night from a stop and roll. From a dig the 4matic advantage is very clear as the car would launch very hard and jumjp out about 2 car lengths and slowly pull another 1/2-1 car length before we shut down. From a roll the car would slowly pull to about 1 1/2-2 cars everytime before we shut down.

I have been racing cars at the track for years and based on how the car feels, I am confident that the car will easily run from 11.9-12.2 based on weather and launch.

Overall I am extremely happy with my choice and new found power. Hopefully this review helps anyone thinking of getting their 550 Bi-turbo tuned!

Excellent! I was in the process of picking up an N/A 63 till I had been reading about the 2012 550's and sleeper potential and hidden HP. I had been waiting for someone to post that they tuned the my12 550 with OE since I could only find my10/11 cars posting about their tunes. I had a built S4 back in the day and currently drive an 06 350. I have been really itching to get back into a turbo car but can't go back to a smaller sedan after being in an E class for the last 7 years. To me it's a no brainer to source a my12 550 vs going the AMG route which will cost me double and be way more expensive maintenance wise.
Thanks for the info on your tune. Once I find the right 550 I will take the drive to OE and see what a monster the 550 can really be.

Thats the exact decision I had to make. I was looking at a 2010-2011 E63 and even drove a few. I decided to go this route and am very happy. While I admit this car isnt an AMG as far as suspension etc, it is very, very fun to drive. And as far as straight line performance (which obviously isnt everything) the tuned E550 is definitely quicker.
