Finally got my car back from the body shop from my accident. While it was in there I had the Chinese E63 grille trim and center painted gloss black and I wrapped the lower lip in gloss black vinyl (in case I wanted to go back to chrome). As the other threads have mentioned: the bumper had to be removed and factory rivets would need to drilled if you replace the factory piece. Mine was a new bumper so that step was skipped. Body shop pretty much said it was a pain in the ***. Fitment was really good with only a slight gap 1/16" in certain places along the outside. I am happy and it looks totally different IMO.
Looks good. I was also involved in an accident last week and will be going the same route. The only difference is that I'm painting the stock grill in gloss black.
The vinyl is holding up great even with the crappy weather. Still has a good shine to it. Has had multiple washes. Plus it's cheap and removable. The grill looks great too. I have a 1/8" chip on the grill but that's it. I can touch up with black when I get around to it. It must have been something hard that hit it to do that. Get a good shop to paint yours if you do it. It's worth paying to have a professional do it. I would recommend.
Is everyone using vinyl for the side skirt indention, or is there a trim piece for this? I've found carbon fiber inserts, but would rather have gloss black.
