2014 E250
2014 E250 Diesel Update

I haven't posted in a while but here's my update on my 2014 E250.

Just passed 55,000 miles.

Combined MPG: 38.1 MPG
Best tank MPG: 44.2 MPG
Worst tank MPG: 33.4 MPG

Unscheduled maintenance: Aux battery replaced under warranty (at 45,000 miles.)

Other than that, just regular oil changes and service. No other issues.

I average 86.8 miles of driving per day.

Cost per mile to operate $0.08.

One of the best cars for long distances/commuting that I've ever owned.

I'll check back in soon.

It is the perfect car for somebody who drives as much as you do. I also have a '14 E250 and I love it. I don't have nearly as many miles as you do (11K) but I have not had a single thing wrong with it yet.

Are you still on the original run flats? Mine are still good but it looks like they won't last for a lot of miles. If you have replaced them, did you go with run flats again?

I love my 2014 e250. I get 52 high way miles per gallon. No problems whatsoever. I don't miss 2012 e350 Bluetec I had.

It's funny I was going to my car in front of whole foods and heard a lady start her E Class and thought it was a little loud for an E Class and saw it was a E250 which explained the noisier engine so I stopped to listen to it pull away and it didn't sound that bad.

My experience after a year of owning an E250 is that you can tell it's a diesel a) at idle, and b)from outside of the car. When you're driving, you'd never know.

Having owned my E250BT 4M for 10 months, my car has been flawless. It is a superb highway cruiser, offering great comfort and solidity, as well as outstanding fuel economy and driving range. Achieving over 50 mpg for highway is really easy in this car.

My 2014 E250 has around 12,000 miles and it continues to amaze me with no problems so far. When I got my A Service, the loaner was a 2015 E350 (with about 5,000 miles) and compared to my E250, it was "rougher", or less refined. To me, the gas engine seemed louder/more busy with no performance benefit. My E250 just seemed more "stout" and I absolutely couldn't wait to get back in it.

My only critique is a bit more tire noise, which, with runflats, is unavoidable.

It is baffling to me why MBUSA equips the E250BT with run flats for the US market, while here in Canada, the E250BT 4M is equipped with all season radials (either Conti ProContact or Pirellis) plus a TireFit Kit (compressor & tire sealant).

By the way, for anyone who is contemplating changing over from RFTs to non-RFTs, the Conti ProContacts ride significantly quieter than the Pirellis.
