If that is true why does MB sell only 8,065 CLS vehicles in the U.S. in 2012 and 65,171 E- Series vehicles in the U.S. in 2012? They are both 4 doors, 4 seats and in your own words are pretty much the same car except for shape.
MB fans and consumers vote with their wallets TS.

and again, why would you give something a second look? its probably coz you dont get to see it often. tell me, as soon as you drive out from your garage, how many Es have driven pass by you already? you might wanna go back to your numbers and tell me which one is rarer.
besides, I dont think even MB was expecting to surpass the sales of the e with the CLS. why would you buy an oversized four door, four seater coupe when you can have a mid size five seater sedan? its probably because youre single/no kids/second car and have money to spare. so your stats dont count for anything.

Made an offer on this '13 e550 today http://www.mbelcajon.com/certified/M...cce55165d5.htm
I stood firm at $42,388 and they stood firm at $43,788. I walked.
Let me know your thoughts.

$50000 was over priced. You've gotten them in the right ball-park. Hopefully they reconsider your offer. Good job playing hardball.

Nadaguide lists retail at $45,775 so getting over 50k was their dream or maybe they do that so people can say what a big discount they got. Clean trade in is 41,875. A good price is somewhat close to clean trade in, but this one is missing the Pano so maybe you want to point that out. You could try repeating your offer in a week and see if they will come down more on price or just wait for another one to come by with a few more options. They're usually more motivated at the end of the month so try again on Friday or Monday and get the deal done by the 30th.

thanks for highlighting the obvious from my first post. the CLS is based on an E as far as i know. hence i said theyre pretty much the same car, maybe not from the exterior but probably from within.
and again, why would you give something a second look? its probably coz you dont get to see it often. tell me, as soon as you drive out from your garage, how many Es have driven pass by you already? you might wanna go back to your numbers and tell me which one is rarer.

...and I don't look at a car just because I may not see it often. If I don't like the lines, I don't like the lines. I see hot chicks all the time, I still look each time and they aren't rare. So, your logic is fundamentally flawed and irreparably broken...doesn't count for anything
The MB community has spoken and the message is clear. People pay for what they like and it's the E-class by a landslide...this isn't even a close contest!
To each his own though. Everyone likes what they like.

The price has gone up n down (actually just up!) since I've been eyeing her for the last 3 weeks. I forgot to mention that the wood trim is faded- I pointed it out and they initially said they would "look into it". Apparently the service manager agreed it would be covered under warranty- but that was after a bit of back n forth.
I think my biggest "issue" is that she has been sitting there on the lot for 160 days- I'd think they would be a bit more motivated. So, probably going to go make an offer on this tomorrow-

Was thinking of offering $36,500 to begin... I've already priced the ELW and I can get the 7/100k for $4500. My only hesitation is that she's already got 45k miles...
Thoughts?! Again, appreciate you all and (your opinions.)

Oh hell no! I am not crazy. Can get 1.74% from my credit union. Although my "plan" is to finance with MB for 3.99 and receive the first 2 payments for "free" and then refi with my CU...

Also, why not give the MB dealer some time to reconsider. At least 7 days. Also, state that the wood needs to be replaced in the written contract. You don't have time for games you are a man with money.
I would contact them after the 7 days if they haven't called and tell them you will give them $4,000-$5,000 less in December...and they should hang onto your phone number because they will be looking you up at the end of the year. Considering the car was on the lot for 160 days and they know the car is going to be worth $X,XXX less in 3 months, that should turn the heat up on them...enough where they take your offer.
Just give them a friendly reminder 2016 is close and that car ain't going anywhere. Do they really want that car on their lot this Christmas? Now they have a decision to make...take a little over a grand off now to meet your offer or suffer much more later. Worth a shot before you take a swing at the Lexus.
Good luck pal. Let us know how it turns out.

Problem is, you are an educated buyer and you know the market value isn't what they had listed.

I think the cls is so much nice than an e class. And my wife has a 12 e350 coupe.
Also all she will drive is a white one so i equate that to a girls car now. But even she would rather have a cls over her e coupe that she loves

I received an email stating the absolute best they will do on the '13 e550 (with fade trim yet to be fixed) is:
$43,772...
I'll keep looking and hope to find something soon as I've been without a car x 6 weeks- should say have been down to 1 ride for the two of us x 6 weeks.

Zero. That's false hope on their part Run flat out until you hear God count to three, then brake!

I'm not sure where you got quoted the price for the ELW but there are a few people from dealers that will give you an amazing deal. 4 months ago I got the 7/75k for a 2011 E350 for only $2106. I understand it's a different car and not the 100k but it is more then half the price you you were quoted. I dealt with Jason Mayes at International Autos Milwaukee. It's worth looking into to hopefully save $1000 or so on the ELW. Good luck and I'm sure you will find something great!

Mamachup, have you looked at any warranties that are designed with specific vehicle component repair or replacement instead of a complete wrap, these tend to have lower deductibles, monthly or lump sum payment. Monthly payments provide cash flow flexibility and opportunity to change coverage, company, and stop payment at your leisure. I got a decent quote from Assurant after checking out: Available packages, ease of use, claim processing satisfaction and timeliness, including auto insurance carriers they work with or have worked with long term-mine does. When I was looking for my E350 it seemed to me that everyone wanted 450-500 per year no matter what company I called for a Premium wrap that covers Major components only-most did not cover-support modification of any vehicle. My decision was to purchase a premium wrap, 14 major components, 5 year-50K miles for 35.00 monthly including tax. Sad to hear that they still want over 43K without warranty package-time is currently on their side but may change at the drop of a hat-life always does, good hunting.

Hmmm. This looks promising.
13 e550 coupe- I don't need a "5 seater" 4 door car.
Fourmatic isn't a desire.

Mamachup, I had the vehicle for a little over 2 months and the HVAC system was not efficient IMO. Had just completed the 20K maintenance per the manual and did not believe that it was checked thoroughly-MB dealer said it was fine when they checked-no way they checked it, only blew hot air until driven to start cooling process from day one. They replaced a faulty sensor and charged over 200.00 for the labor, sensor free, right. Assurant paid all costs directly to MB-I paid a 50 deductible because my plan was only 2 months old and the HVAC is a major system with covered components of my plan. If you get a decent MB CPO plan it may be better long term if it goes in for numerous minor repairs. Like others here I feel my time is valuable and I do not want to go there period. I have owned several mid to high end sedans and they all have their issues with new and emerging technologies so warranties IMO are a necessary evil.

Also did you get a price for an additional 2 year warranty on the CPO E550? I think pricing for CLS is probably higher than an E class because a CLS550 was about 10k more than an E550.
