Schedule B maintenance
Hi I been a member for a little while. This is my first post. I have a 2012 e350 bluetec CPO. I'm going in for my 30,000 mile maintenance at the dealership. They quoted a cost of between 1,300 to 1,800 thought that was high. I then contacted another Mercedes dealership about 30 miles apart, they gave me a quote of 400 to 600. I made sure of comparing apples to apples. Any comments or similar experiences ?

Yes, I have found the same. Prices vary vastly from dealer to dealer.
Call around, and make sure you're getting the same product.
30K service is not a "big one" like the 40K with fuel filters and such.
If you want to save some money, fill the DEF tank yourself, most dealers charge $150 to do that, and you can fill it yourself for about $25. Search for a few threads, one by me, on this subject.
I actually had the local dealer tell me that another dealer "couldn't possibly do the work" for the quoted price, even though the low priced dealer is one of the largest in the USA.
Do your homework, and don't overpay.
I drive 2.5 hours to the dealer who does my service. Of course, I work a business trip in, but even still....
PS, Benzel-Busch gets $570 for the B service.

I have gotten two B prices from my local dealer that differ by a large margin. The regular price is $360 for the B but that does not include brake fluid service which is often due at the same time. That is another $120 from them. And then the B service often coincides with the ATF service ($425) due every 40k and once in while it is due for spark plug replacement ($600) every 60k. So when I was quoted a higher price like $800 one time, they said it was because my car probably also needed some other services not included in the normal B.
My sense is they probably get some annoyed customers whose cluster says they are due for a B service and those folks get mad if they are told the regular price and then hit with all these other extras that are due at the same time. Therefore, I always ask for an itemized list of what is included in the price beyond the normal A or B service as listed in the manual.

One factor is there are three types of services.
1. The MB Maintenance Manual required services.
2. The MB Maintenance Manual recommended services in addition to the required.
3. The dealerships recommended services in addition to 1 & 2.
Most, if not all, dealerships for all makes recommend way more than is needed as routine services.

FYI
I have a pre-paid 3 year plan with the B included for $1200.
So yes that is very high for a B service. The 30/3 and 60/6 are pricey but not that quote pricey.

A respected indy in North Jersey (Belleville) only charges $250 for Service B. I was due but ended up having to get some other things done so went somewhere else and spent well past $250.
