Cheap way to reduce wind noise!
To those of you, who enjoy highspeed driving. Did you notice, that wind noise is a pretty serious issue in our E-class W212?
Inspired by a thread in another forum, I bought a TESA strip to further isolate my doors. That was a less than 20 USD mod, which resulted in a noise reduction of 1dB(a) at 92mph!

A good and cheap fix. I know of a few board members who get irritated by the slightest of noise. So this will be very useful to them. Good post

Can you really notice the difference between 75 and 76 dB?
I can't say that the wind noise bothers me. I find the E class to be very quiet at cruising speeds - though here you can't safely do 150 km/h.

The box says transparent tape. Is it white as shown? That looks like a hack job and ugly as hell.

I may be in the minority, but the E-Class is louder than my last car (Lexus LS430) - and I'm fine with that. I have the E400 Sport, and it is just a different sort of car.
Now, when I hear noises that don't "belong" there, I do act. The car goes in next week for a couple of "clickies" to be addresses (along with a nag message about something else).

Really?? I mean there is no speed limit that high here either but when you say safely, I'm thinking something else must be going on there. That's not even that fast.

Here, in the city there's too much traffic. Outside the city, not enough passing lanes, and inevitably someone pulling a trailer in front of you.

That sux lol. Yeah the cities are too congested where I'm at to really push it but several highways allow you to push it in spurts without being to obvious about it. I guess you guys have to hit the track to really feel the power of your vehicles out there.

Having the E-Coupe, I love to drive with both the windows down a lot.
The most unusual noise I notice sounds like a 'tearing' sound coming from the wing mirrors as I drive. It's like the mirrors are 'cutting' through the air and I can often replicate the noise. I appreciate it is just the flow of air over the mirrors, but since the mirrors are more or less a common design element across the Benz, I would have thought it to be a more common complaint.
I've visually checked my driver-side mirror, but there is nothing (obvious) wrong with it.
Doesn't have to be high speed - I've heard it around 30/40 mph too.
Anyone else notice this?

The trip from 0-150 is pretty awesome though!

Funny I just came across this thread. I just did this on my W204. Makes a world of difference, and $6 at Canadian Tire

That said, I did testing to see if I use a garden hose and absolutely drench the door seals at the top if water would seep into the cabin. It doesn't appear to, although that top lip seal (facing the interior door) does get soaking wet. I also removed the add on/mod and tested it again, and same thing. So I don't think there are any water intrusion issues to worry about in the heavy rain.
Anyone else try this?
