Seat Stitching Issue Fix?

Anyone get there drivers side seat stitching fixed through an automotive upholstery shop rather then the dealer. Dealer refused to fix my seat stitching with my extended warranty and looking for an alternative. I was quoted $341 for just the seat bottom.

I don't think you can restitch the bottom, you have to replace the cover all together. I shopped online for a new cover and it seems to cost about 250 for the part. So if your shop wants to charge you 341 seems fair as long as they aren't trying to repair the existing cover.

From what I can tell is that the old cover just disintegrates.

This was the price I recieved from MB parts dealer. Im sure the labor would be another $300, but I think I could pull off a DIY.

I had to pull my seat out and pull the cover to replace the heater, I followed these instructions.

Wasn't really too hard to get it out. Make sure you disco the battery or you will get air bag lights.

Now mine is ripped but I haven't bothered to get a new cover yet.

Thanks for the link, it will most definitely help me in the disassembly. So would I be able to purchase just the MBTex cover for the seat rather then the entire bottom seat? This would make more sense.

Heres a link to the seat diagram. You can find the part number you need here.

http://daytonamercedesparts.com/part...t=Seat%20cover

Change year and model as needed.
Google search for your part number to make sure you find the best price.

Yes you don't need replace everything, it would be super expensive to deal with the heaters. The only thing you might have issues with is the center seat heater. It should be able to be transferred from the old cover to the new cover. There is a sticky tape piece of it that sticks it to the cover underside. The other heater is attached to the cushion already and don't need anything done to it.

Great link thank you. Seems like these seats run 5 grand at the rate these covers are going lol.
