Auto tilt feature on E350 wagon
Hi - new CPO 2012 wagon owner. I haven't found anything in the manual regarding how to defeat this feature. When releasing the second row seat backs to fold them flat, as soon as you pull the release handle on the rear seat back (or the ones located at the sides of the rear cargo area) the corresponding front seat back tilts forward - they say to accommodate the rear seat headrests swinging down. Unfortunately they do not return back on their own. You need to do this each time you fold the seats. I use the memory button to return it back to its preset position which makes it a bit easier. Just wondering if any other wagon owners have any feedback. Thanks

Thanks for the tip - my local dealer was able to do the re-coding of the front passenger seat (after some subtle prodding, and the bulletin number). At first they said that was just the way it was supposed to operate. But now I can definitely run the seat back to a normal seating position with the rear seats still folded flat.

Good to hear you had it fixed.
If you read back in this forum you can find that this is an old problem with the exact solution. I had two cars with this problem that were corrected by the coding fix, which also has been posted in this forum.

Clarification.
My front pass seat won't move back when the seat behind it has been folded flat. It moves forward and refuses to move back until the seat behind it has been folded back up.
In contrast, the driver seat can be motored back into place manually when the seat behind it has been folded flat. It slides forward on its own, but then at least I can motor it back into place.
Is this the way it's supposed to be? Best I can tell, the front pass seat is the one that can be "fixed" with the coding update.

Yes, the front seat passenger seat was the only one that had the coding changed. It now can be moved back and the seat back can be reclined, like the driver's seat, with the rear seat folded flat.
