Bi xenon inner lights - how to turn them on?

Bi xenon inner lights - how to turn them on?
I just bought a 2012 e63. It has the bi-xenons but I can't figure out how to turn on the middle/inner bi-xenon lamps.
I have tried
high beams - flash to pass (pulling the stalk)
High beams - always on (push the stalk)
Adaptive headlights on and off
Can't figure out how to turn them on. Seems odd that they would both burn out at the same time...
