B Service

Got an email reply from my local MB dealer, after I asked about my upcoming 20K miles service :

"The basic B service is $655.00. Would you like to schedule this appointment?"

Is that reasonable?

Also, what's ave cost of 3 pack service (B, A, B)?

Thanks,

It depends on what your dealer calls a "B" service. At mine, the tire rotation is included for my car. Used to also add Techron, but not sure anymore. Also includes hand wash/dry.

The price varies by dealership. Some charge more than others. You can always shop around the other MB dealerships in your area to see what they charge.

A B around here is $350 to $400. Brake fluid change is another $120.

I got a 3 pack for $1,100 by calling MB Austin to cover my B-A-B.

Mine is due too. Cheapest quote I got from a dealer was $399. I'm thinking of just getting the oil changed and break fluid checked at an Indy shop.

i would think at minimum B service should include all the items that are required by MB manual to be changed/replaced. Everything else is 'fluff' on top of that, but there should be a core items that the OP can compare prices for between multiple dealers.

otherwise i don't think for those with MB maintenance plans MB would just be playing dealer left and right for arbitrary service items.

You are correct that it should include what MB requires be done. But there are also the MB recommended. Both are in Maintenance Manual. Also, tire rotation may be considered additional as it is not required for all. In fact, cannot be done for some. Then there are the other things dealer might or might not include.

got my B done for 398 with tire rotation and brake flush. used coupon from another dealer but car only had 7,000 miles on it. When I bought car they said to bring car in every 12,000 miles for service. Told them I would see them in about 4 years. They then said once a year no matter how many miles.
